Where May My Tears Fall?

Where may my tears fall?

When they roll down my cheek

Will they ever stop at all?

Before my heart accepts defeat

Will they fall into the wind?

Being swept off my face

Will they fall again and again?

Then floating away without a trace

Will they fall in the pouring rain?

Mixing with the tears from above

Will they shed just the same?

Of those wept of pain and love

Where may my tears fall?

Rolling down a borrowed shoulder

Is this something I foresaw?

Tears like a child as I get older

When will they ever end?

The tears of heartache and pain

Submitting me to give in

While fighting to stay sane

When may my tears fall?

And who are they really for

Will they run out at all?

Or will there always be more

Where may these tears fall?

Deep within my divided thoughts

They will soak the trembling walls

Of my fragile broken heart

Written: 9-9-12

“Where May My Tears Fall?” was written to a month prior to me leaving out for deployment to Afghanistan. I was preparing to spend some time with my daughters when personal problems came about and I wasn’t able to see my daughters for a little while. I felt down because I knew my time at home was short and I wouldn’t have many more opportunities to spend with them.
